18" FX4 (P275/65R18) on F150 XLT 2x4??

I have seen posts going in either direction so just wanted some clarification. Can the 18" FX4 (2004) rims with a P275/65R18 tire run alright on a 2006 4x2 F150 SuperCab? I know that the FX4 ride a little bit higher than the 4x2 XLT. Thanks.

Anyone know for sure? I see in the threads that Wandell said it could be tight, but work. Just was wondering if anyone has done this in my situation. I have a chance to get some for a good deal but dont want to buy something that wont fit.

Im not wandell, but I know with the fx4 rims and tires you will need a leveling kit to use them, you will have rubbing without it. 275/65r18 is a 32" tall tire, save yourself a headache and go with a 2" or 2.5" autospring leveling kit and dont worry about it.

I havn't seen anyone run that combo on a completely stock 4x2. No doubt they will fit with a leveling kit.

I had those tires on my lariat, and then put them on my dads 2004 xlt 4x2. They seem to fit fine for him as he hasn't complained about any issues with them yet, and his truck is completely stock.

Thumbs up

Just an FYI . I too installed my 18" lariat rims with 275/65R18's on my dad's 2004 xlt 4x2 with no rubbing at all. no leveling kit either.

The 2007 FX2 comes stock with 275-60/18's which are a 31" tire, the 275-55/20's are optional, and they are a 32" tire. So if ford puts on 32's on a stock height 4x2 than you can too. Those people that say you can't, or need a leveling kit don't have a clue of what thay are talking about.

B.T.W. the factory 20" wheel is 8.5" wide and the 18's are only 7.5"

MY 4x2 came with the 275/55/20's, a 32" tire. I have the performance suspension package, don't know if that makes a difference or not, but they should fit fine.
