I have that exact size BFG at's on my stock fx4 rims. I know that's not what you were asking, but that size will fit perfect and look great. The only thing about the terra grapplers is a lot of people complain that they don't last real long.

Do you have any pictures of you truck with this size tire?
does the tire look much bigger on truck?

I want to go with a larger than original tire but the rim width restricts that
I really like the BFG,s but they are pricey.

Exclamation FYI.. BFG ATKO "E"'s are rough on the F150

I just put the BFG 285/65/18's on my 04FX4 this morning. No level kit. They look great! Did the same searching you're probably doing now. BFG was a coin toss vs. the Nitto. Had to go with "E" load because BFG discontinued the "D" in the size. Some shops still have the "D"'s left. I didn't want to wait.

Not a bit dissapointed; however, the "E"'s are a noticably rougher ride even @ 35psi. If OEM smooth is important to you? Hunt down some left over "D"s. \

Here are some pics of my 285 bfg at's on stock rims. They look and perform great, but as said above, they are a little rougher than the stock tires because they are 10 ply. very durable, but you lose a little comfort. It's a truck though so I didn't mind a bit. I'd do it all over again without thinking twice.

My 285/65-18's shake like a fiend at 60-65mph, even after Road Force balancing. If you're going to get them, get them locally so you can return the set if needed. Several people have had problems with that size and vibration/out of round.

Does anyone have any idea where I could possibly pick up a set of these 285/65/18's in a "D" rating?

I think you have a set of bad tires then, because I have the new 305/65/18 with a 2" AS, and they are E rated, and I drive on the interstate everyday to work and they ride as smooth as ever, I can get the truck up to 75 and it is still riding as smooth as ever, it rides a little rougher than stock, but that is because they are a bigger and more aggressive tire, and the AS does not help that cause either., but My E rated BFG ride very smooth and even at high speeds.

I'm thinking about the same set-up on the new truck. Got any pics or a gallery?

You just need to set up your photo gallery. Go to the home page, select "create my photo gallery". As long as you have your pics already on your computer hard drive, just click upload photos or something like that. Then your pics are stored here on f150online. Once you get that done, you should see a gallery number somewhere. Once you get that galley number, go to "user cp" and update profile. You should see a place to put the number in. Hope this helps some.

His sig says the Skyjacker is the add-a-leaf. He has an autospring leveler. I have the Skyjacker 2" level and it works fine.
