2004 f-150 STX
I know this question is asked everyday, but I can not seem to find one asked with my year truck. I have an 04 F150 STX new body style and just put a 2.5 leveling kit on it. I am changing the stock tires and wheels and want to go to a 16.5 or even a 16 inch rim but not sure if I can do that with the new body style. I want to go to 33 inch tires or 305's which I think are the same, but need to know what size and what wheel size to start shopping.
By what I have been reading on here everyone knows their trucks and this should be a fun site to communicate on. Thanks, Joe |
You have to have at least a 17 inch wheel to fit over the brakes on your truck. If you have a 4x4's, I'd go with a 2 or 2.5 inch Autospring leveling kit and an 18x9 inch wheel (with 5.5 or 6 inches of backspacing) and a 325/60-18 (33x13.00) tire.

I have put on a 2.5 leveling kit already just have not changed the tires and wheels yet

Ive got an 04 STX with a 2.5" leveling kit too. Im looking at getting 35s and am confused with the whole backspacing issue as well. How much backspacing should I be looking for with a 35/12.5/17 tire and how much backspacing do the stock 17" wheels have anyway?
TO fit 35x12.50's with just a leveling kit on a 4x4 you will have to use the OEM wheels which are 7..5 inches wide with 5.5 inches of backspacing. Or, find an aftermarket wheel the same size.
Would I be able to tuck 35/12.5 on a 17x9" rim with 5" backspacing if I first had a 3" suspension lift put on?
On what?
an 04 STX 4x4 F150
No. You could fit 33x12.50's though.
just a word of caution i have heard that the 3 inch lift from rancho really messes with your angles up front
I don't think Rancho makes a 3 inch lift. I believe you are talking about the 3 inch Skyjacker lift which is just replacement coilovers up front.
thanks for the help guys...looks like im going to have to suck it up and drop more money for the 6" lift for my 35s
