02 R/C Flareside will 35" tires fit?

Hey guys,

New to the boards and looking to get new tires/rims. I have an 02 R/C Flairside XLT 4x4 Sport with the stock 17" Sport rims.

My friend has 35" BFG mud terrains and 15" Pro Comp rims. He ran these on an 03 S/C but his was lifted.

Would they fit on my stock 02? Ive heard I might need to trim my valence a little bit so they wouldnt rub.

Thanks for any info!

First off welcome to the site, it is a great place to get some good info. Now to the point. First of all, I don't think you can run 15" rims on the 97-03 trucks. The smallest you can run is a 16 because of the size of the brake calipers. Secondly, you shouldn't have any trouble running 35's with the proper rim size, crank the torsion bars a bit and trim some plastic and you will be set.

Black is right. You can't run 15" wheels on 01-03 Screws. Brake calipers are too big.
Also, welcome to the site! Lots of good info. This site can also break the bank

Right. You can't fit 15 inch wheels on a 97-03 F-150. The key to fitting 35's on a stock 97-03 4x4 is to use the OEM wheels. If you want aftermarket wheels you will have to stick with 33's. Personally, I think a 305/70-16 (33x12.50) on a 16x10 wheel (with 4.5 inches of backspacing) is the best looking combo on a stock 4x4. You will need to trim some plastic off your front bumper's lower valance to fit this combo.
Also, welcome to the site.
