33x13.50-18's on an 04 scrub?
My roomate just got some DC-1's in an 18x9, and he order some DC mud terrains in a 33x12.50-18, but they sent him 13.50's will his stock 4x4 04 fit them, or will he need a lift? Even with a lift will he need tire spacers so there is no a-arm rub? I told him to send them back and request the ones he ordered but he likes the width.

well, it depends on the backspacing of the DC-1's he got- if its 5-5.5" bs. he will most likely rub a good deal on the upper, lower arms, as well as his sway bar..

Actually, if the DC wheels have 5 or 5.5 inches of backspacing he should be fine as long as he installs a 2 or 2.5 inch leveling kit. The most commom backspacing on 18x9's for the 04-07's is 5 inches.

hey Wandell- i think you are correct that they will "fit" fine in there, but i am thinking his tire width is still going to have problems...my 33-12.5's would occasionally rub in those areas which i listed above (with a leveling kit, and obviously the rub is greatly more apparent now with my 35's), and it would just be my assumption that 1" wider in overall section width would have an increase probability of rubbing... with a leveling kit, the rubbing may actually be more, as the angle between the tire & uca is increased.
i dunno, its saturday and my brain has been maxed out the last week -so i may be looking at this totally ass-backwards let me know if thats the case  |
I imagine it's the swaybar and frame that you are rubbing. My 22's rub my swaybar, but it's not noticable. In fact I would have never know it if I didn't just happen to see the shiney spot while changing my oil. A lot of members here and at FTW have the same wheel/tire combonation (as far as tire size, wheel width and backspacing) and havn't reported any rubbing problems. I you use a 9 inch wide wheel with less than 5 inches of backspacing, the tire/wheel sticks out of the wheelwell a good bit.

Oh well he just got back from iraq and he has all the money he saved there, so he called friday when he got the tires and tried to get the leveling kit installed right then and there, but no one in town had the level instock, so he had one overnighted to the shop. They are going to install it first thing monday morning. He is super excited he has never had a nice truck, where as I have had a few with my job so everything he does to his truck now is so much "cooler" than mine:lol: Hes like a kid at christmas I think it is funny.
