Nitto Terra Grapplers vs. ProComp AT's

I have the 33x12.5R17 ProComp AT's and they have been great. Should I get some more or look into the Nittos? My main concern is size comparison and longevity. I think the Nittos (295/70R17) are about an inch taller, but also an inch narrower and 1.5mm less tread depth. They also probably won't last quite as long will they? I'd hate to give up much of that width. Thanks!!!

A 295/70/17 is basically a 34x12, I doubt you would notice that much of a difference? I have heard good things about the Nittos and they are ranked highly in any review I have seen as well.

The Nitto's are a much better tire than the Pro Comp AT's.

Not disputing this, but how so? This much money deserves plenty of research. I'd like to see 50K mi. / 5 years out of them.

i have got about 20,000 miles on mine and they are at about 1/2 tread. I do mostly around town driving.

I'm basing that statement on magazine tire test and reports of members here and at FTW. The Pro Comp AT's are not a bad tire. They seem to fall more in the "average" catagory. The Terra Grapplers on the other hand are commonly recognized as one of the best all terrian tires available.

Well, I found Terras locally for $180 a piece, and the ProComps for $175 a piece shipped so it's still a toss up.

go read the reviews of each at www.tirerack.com you may find some usefull info there. From what I've read the Nitto's have great tread life.

Just went to the site and it looks like they are not selling the Nitto's anymore, you can read some reviews here:

Looks like many reported poor tread life, but several stated they got 50K +. I guess since they are so closely priced, I'll probably go with the ProComp. I know they will get me 50K mi. easy and I like the size. They are only about a 32.25" tire, but they are very wide and I only have 3:55's so the smaller dia. helps. Would be nice to pickup another inch though too.

Pro Comps

I just purchased some pro comps today.... I was originally going to purchase the Grapplers, but found that they ride rough and don't last as long so I went with the Comps... 50k longer life and a little cheaper. I hope I am happy with the look

the nittos are great tires. i got my mom a set for her 04 screw 4wd(don't remember the exact size in metric but its around 32" tall and fits on the stock 18" wheels) They are wearing very well and the ride is awsome. I would definitly check them out if i were you. Also if you are looking at procomps i would check out the Extreme AT's they have. I am hopfully getting a set of the 40x13.5R17 Xtreme AT's for my F350 on monday.

Comparitable tires as they are both great.
I have a 50,000 mile warranty with mine and plus they look better than the PC ATs.
You can see pics of mine in my sig.

I've got 24K on mine in two years, looks great and handle all kinds of conditions. I paid $145 for mine but I also had a hook up at the tire place I got mine! Great tire!

Actually, I have the PC Xtreme ATs on the way so we'll see how they are. In the mean time I'm havin a BLAST roasting my AT's off.
