Big wheels
 

I hate this big wheel trend, who needs 20's? 22's? or 24's? I want to put smaller wheels on mine (15's) because I'm old school and am not a fan of big wheels. 33's and up look terrible when there's no side wall there just my .02

That would be great if 16" wheels would fit...that size wheel wont clear the brake calipers (not without modification anyway).
the 97-04(heritage) trucks require at least a 16" wheel.
the new 04-up F150s require at least a 17" wheel (Ive heard of the newer 05s and 06s not clearing certain 17" rims).

Right, 15's won't fit. The manufacturers are making the brakes larger and larger for increased stopping power. In fact, some aftermarket 17 inch wheels won't fit over the brakes of the late production 05 and 06 F-150's. Like it or not, the large wheel trend seems to be here to stay. The fact you can purchase new vehicles with 22's is proof of this. The look will probably grow on you (within reason), it did me.

I agree with some of that. The rubberband tire look is plain useless in my book. But I do like the 20s on our trucks.

I like more tire than chrome too!

I am hoipng I can find a 15" rim with enough backspace to clear my calipers, if thats the issue; if not I hope I can find a 16" black d-hole style wheel

im 18 and the big rims thing is cool to us younger people liek i have 24" black rims and i think it looks really good but i have gone to many car shows and the older people dont really like the black rims or that there so big but certain people like different things

I am right there with you man ESPECIALLY on a 4X4. But I also understand and fully support to each his own. I think 16-17's are fine and you know what on a 2wd 20's don't look to bad. But this fad of taking a 4wd truck throwing 15" in the air to put 22's on it to drive down the street everyday is what kills me.

But as I said to each his own. I am sure when I am done with my truck someone will not like it so I don't get mad about just don't understand it.

im the other way, i think small rims and huge swampers looks bad. just doesnt look right

like 16 inch rims and 40s or somthing,. has all that sidewall, just isnt fer me

I have stock 18's and big tires with a lot of rubber. I like it. The new 250's have optional 20's and a lot of rubber. The low profile look on a truck, I can understand why you dont like, but IMHO, the big rims look good. Like everything else, it has to be done right. What ever right happens to mean to you.

And there is not a whole lot of brake caliper clearance room. My dads 04 with 17's is tight enough.

If you offset the rims to clear the calipers, you are going to come up with that "other" look that you probably wont like. Wheels sticking out 4 inches out side the fender and being about 7 inches wide.

Well considering 99%+ of driving is done on the road by drivers in America, and I personally would fall into that category... I think I will stick with my 22s and when I need to turn rapidly to avoid a car/object/person/animal at high speeds, I WILL, when you try...you might die! Sucks to be you... :devil:

22s are more practical in 9 out of 10 situations than 15s with 35s... sounds crazy, but think about it...it's true! Even for those of you WITH lifted trucks that go off road "regularly" you still spend the VAST majority of your driving on pavement...where a bigger wheel is better for handling.

anyway, do what you want... I think it can look good either way, I just chose to go big (on the wheels!) on this truck...maybe next time I'll lift it ;)

outside of work there was a kid with some s-10 and his big 20's with spinners haha well there is a 90 corner and he hit the curb sideways, lil too fast through the parking lot. he smoked his tire broke the belt and the 2 rims were toast. later on that day i had some older 35's i wanted to burn off my truck so i could put my 33 bf's back on ( friend had them on his truck for towing he only had p rated tires.. idiot.. haha ) well i hit the same curb sideways just as hard if not harder with the 35's... no damage at all.. 16 inch rim and all it did was scuff it. i still had to do a brake lock tp pop them:).. its gets boring at work what can i say:rocker:

i love my buddies ride hes got 22s with 49 inch tires on them lol ..........they rubber looks insane...........almost like a tonka............really gives his f350 a badass look to it on a f150 i like the 20s wrapped in 37s....looks pretty clean ....... i also wish i could get a 15 to clear but u cant i think u need like a 17 to clear all the bs .............but ya man get like some bad ass 18s and put some 37s on them should make u seen like u got a whole lot of rubber lol
