Question NEED ADVICE on tire selection!

I have 1998 f-F150 Ext. Cab 2WD 4.6L V8. Can't decide on BF Goodrich LongTrail TA's or Michelin LTX M/S tires in size P255 70R16. Mostly highway and very little off-road. Don't want a lot of road noise but good dry/wet traction. Any advice???

I personally do not have any experience with the tires that you are looking at. I put a set of LT265/75R16 Cooper Discoverer ATR on my truck back around Thanksgiving last year. They are a 60k mile tire, have a good semi-agressive tread. Most of my miles are also highway, but I wanted to have something that could get around in if I needed to go off road or drive on snow covered roads.

Dry and wet traction seem to be very good. The only times I have really spun the tires when getting on it, there is either loose gravel/sand on the road. If there is any road noise, it is very minimal. The tires ran me around $600 total (tax, mounting, balancing and fees)

Hope that this helps some.

I would agree with APT, I really like BFG All-Terrains but I currently have the Long Trails on my truck and they suck in snow and ice.

Go with the ltx's. My buddy says they ride nice and last a good while.

39 million miles reported for the LTX M/S. It's costly, but it is that much better than just about any other comparable tire.

One more vote for the Michelin, as said, they cost more, but they do great on the road and the tread life is excellent.

I loved my BFG's on my other truck. It was a 4x4 and I used the 4x4. With your truck being a 2wd....I'd get the Michelin LTX M/S.

Another vote for the LTXs, they wear well and run quite. I'll buy another set if these ever wear out.
