Need Wandell's Help

Wandell, I've been posting alot lately trying to get everyone's opinion on which wheel and tire I want to put on my 4x4 04 XLT. I think I've decided to keep it simple and swap out my stock chrome clads for some stock aluminums with the gray painted accents to match my truck's color. Now which tire to run. I have it narowed down to the 295 70 17 terra grappler, and the 315 70 17 BFG KO. Which do you think would be the better choice. I really like how high the 315's lift a truck, but I know that their not recommended.

What's your opinion?

Thanks for reading,

Do you have a lift or leveling kit? You need at least a leveling kit to fit the 315's.

But the 295's are a good bet either way.

The BFGs and the Nittos are both good tires.

Either tire should fit, although Im not sure if its a good idea to put a 315/70R17 on a stock 17" rim. BFG recommends at least an 8.5" wide wheel.

Both are excellent tires. You are basically comparing a 34x12.00-17 (295/70-17) to a 35x12.50-17 (315/70-17). Both are slightly wider than recommend for the OEM 7.5 inch wide wheels, but several people have did it with no problems.

Is there any safety concerns for running either of these setups?

No, but the center portion of the tire's tread will probably wear faster than normal. Similar to the wear you would get from running too much air pressure.
