Hard Water & Chrome Rims

I have sulfer water from a well, the kind that smells like eggs. Yeah it sucks but whats even worse is that I think its eating my chrome rims and handles. Does anyone else have that problem?? Anything I can use to protect besides the obvious.

I had the same problem and installed an in-line dual filter kit for less than a $100 bucks and it worked great. ZYou also need to run some polish over the rims after each wash.

Use the Mr. Clean car wash kit to clean your car if money is an issue. Polish/wax your rims at least once a month. I have a water softner and it does wonders for the whole house.

When we moved into our house it had a water softener but the outside spigots were not plumbed to it - maybe this is your case?

Anyways, I just plumbed in a line coming off of the softened water line to the line going to the spigots - added a shut off valve on that line, and another shut off valve on the line going to the spigots before the point where I tied in the new line. This way I can shut off the non-softened water line and open up the softened water line and I have softened water outside when I need it.

I plumbed everything in the house even the sprinklers because thats where most of the spots on my truck where coming from. It didnt elimanate all the spots but it helped a lot. The guy up the block from me had a small softner put in just to wash his Dodge hemi truck.

well from now on wax those 2 spots. at a minimum, when you wash, dry them immediately. hard to say what the damage is w/o seeing them first hand, but to remedy the damage on them now, try some steel wool in a hidden spot to make sure it doesnt scratch them (it shouldnt) that should remove the damage unless its pitted
