New wheels and tires Installed

I posted in the 04-06 forum, but i guess I'll post here to. I finally got my Helo Maxx 6 17x8 with 4.25" of backspacing and 285/70/17 Toyo At's installed. I like the wheel/tire combo, but I think they stick out too far. I wasnt expecting that. The Toyos ride stiff and you can feel everything. Tomarrow i will check the pressure

Pics are in Gallary

That's what happens with only 4.25 " backspacing. They look nice though, keep us posted on how the Toyos ride, I've been looking at them lately but they seem a little pricey.

Nice! I agree, you probably have too much air pressure.

Yeah Wandell
I think I'll will relieve some pressure tomarrow. I guess I screwed up on my backspacing journey. I was under the impression that an 8 inch wheel with 4.25" backspacing would be the same as a 9" wheel with 5.5" of backspacing (with a slight difference of a .25") Also, maybe I shouldnt have jumped on the Toyos, and stuck with getting the BFG's :o Thanks for all the help though.

You are right on your calculations. I think they look fine, but I wouldn't want them to stick out any more. As for the Toyo AT's, you made a good choice. They are an excellent tire. I'd bet money the tire tech that installed them inflated them to the max psi listed on the sidewall.

Hey I agree - your new wheels/tires look nice - enjoy them!! I'd bet they are not only overinflated by not equally inflated either - 1st thing I do is check the air pressure as every time I've had a set of aftermarket wheels/tires installed they come out with 40lbs, 42lbs, etc. of air pressure. Be sure to check them when cold or you will get a false high pressure reading.

Thanks Wandell
I was thinking about switching to the 18's with BFG's, but I guess I should quit being a baby and stick with them As far as the psi goes, I checked the sidewall, and it says "cold 65 psi" which i cant imagine. I checked the pressure and it read 45 psi and it was roughly 25 degrees out.
