05 Supercrew Wheel Backspacing ?

I have a 2005 XLT 4x4 Supercrew with a Autospring 2" Level Kit and 35x12.50x17 Tires on Stock 17x7.5 Wheels.

I want to upgrade my wheels to a Nice Set of Off Road 17" Wheels. What Backspacing should I go with (17x9?) What Will This do? Make the Wheels extend out over the flares abit more?

Thank You

The stock backspacing is 5 1/2 inches. I'd try to stay as close to that as possible. Most of the 17x9's I've seen have 5 inches of backspacing. The less backspacing you have, the farther your wheels and tires "stick out". So a 9 inch wheel with 5 inches of backspacing will "stick out" 2 inches farther than the OEM 17x7.5 inch wheels.

I forgot to mention something I've read here. Apparantly Ford changed the brake calipers on the 05's, which is causing fitment problems with some aftermarket 17's. Just be sure to make sure any 17 you buy fits over the brakes before you mount a tire on it.

wandell,

The Problem is I have to order these wheels. Trying them before purchase is not a option. I guess I will Just look for a 05 With 17" Wheels and 35" Tires and Copy the wheel setup.

Here are the only pictures I have of the truck with the Lift and 35's. Its nothing special.
Sorry its so dirty.

I would look at the Extreme alloy 6089, similar design and the back spacing on 17"x9"'s is like 5.5"

I meant to be sure and mount a wheel to make sure it fits before you go to the trouble of mounting a tire on it. Most places won't exchange a wheel once you mount a tire on it.

Wandell

Please tell how much a Mickey Thompsan Classic Lock 17x9 with a 5.5 inch Backspace will "stick out" over my Stock Wheels?
