285s w. a v6 5speed
i went down to the tire shop today and had them put on a 285/75R16 to see if they cleared or not, i drive a 2004 single cab haritage 2wd with a v6 and a 5 speed tran. I put a 1 1/2 in lift on the front and the tires clear fine but im wondering bout gas milage and how much stress it will put on the engion and transmission. does anyone no if this is to big for the truck to handle? it has a 3.55 rear end. i was gonna just go with the 265 but the 285 looked great. now idk any help asap would be great. ive found a bunch of threads simular but none with someone driven a 6. thanks y'all

You will be much happier if you regear being that you have a V6 and 3.55 gears. I'm happy with the performance of my truck with 33's and 3.55's, but I have a 5.4.

I agree w/ Wandell and since you have 2wd, gears are pretty cheap.
|
what gears should i go with , and if i dont regear what type of difference will it make. i heard from someone that the v6s w/ the 5speed had a diff. gear ratio than the v8s
|
I run that size...
I'm using that same size with 3.55's, and a 4.6 V8 Auto.
I think with a 5-speed (and V6) you'll be ok. It will use more gas though. |
hey jjm what type of mileage u getting on ur truck right now
|
...a whopping 11-12.
I like AC and drive in town mostly. I use the truck for hauling dirt bikes too, and the 70 mile drive there is all up/down, twist/turn. |
thanks jjm

With a v6, I'd go with 4.56 or at least 4.10's.
|
how much would that run for
|
I've got a V6 2WD and I'm running 37's. I've done an air intake, Supership, exhaust and 4.56 gears. My gas mileage is 13-16 mpg.
|
thanks y'all im goen with 265/75 sport king a/ts, getting em tomorrow
|
good choice
OOOPs, I said I had 285's but really meant 265's.
They should fit real nice ;) . |
