Popping noise upon braking.

I have a 2000 F150. When I brake moderately, I hear a noise that sounds like pop corn popping under the truck. The brakes feel fine.
Has anyone ever had this happen, or any idea what this might be?
Thanks for any help with this.

A broken return spring rattling around in the right rear drum of my '97 F250 caused something like that before.

Kinda hard to say, but I'd start with a good visual inspection...make sure the caliper slides freely, make sure the anti rattle clips and (if any) shims on the back of the pads are in place.

Is your truck lifted in any way? On lifted trucks the parking brake cable to the driver's rear wheel can rub the tire if not secured. I noticed mine after hearing a "popcorn" noise when braking. I got a couple of zip ties and pulled the cable away from the tire, problem solved.
