Upgrading Tires- 285 or 315?

Yeah i'm going to be getting some new tires soon, and i'm likely going to get the BF Goodrich All-Terrain's. . . Now the question is what size? I was originally thinking the 285s, but now i'm even thinking about the 315s, just becuase the 285s arent that big of a step up, and i want to give my truck a more "beefy" look. . . I've got 17" wheels, and i have an 02 Supercrew 2x4. Anyone have any pictures / have seen any 2x4's on 285s or 315s?

If your truck is lifted you can probably fit the 315s, if not and it only being a 2x4 I don't think they will fit even with a leveling kit. I have an 01 Super Crew 4x4 stock and have the 315s its somewhat tight...see my sig pic. Wandell would be the one to ask for sure but I think you would have to do an awful lot of trimming if you went the 35" route.

315/70-17's (35x12.50) won't fit you truck without a lift. In fact 285/70-17's (33x11.50) will barely fit. I've seen a couple of 4x2's with 285's and they are an extremely tight fit. I would stick with a 265/70-17 (32x10.50) unless you plan on lifting the truck.

I'm also thinking about adding a 3" body lift. . . would they fit then?

If you mount them on the stock wheel and add a leveling kit along with the body lift, they should fit. This would put you at about the same height as a 4x4 with the torsion bars cranked up.

The Daystar coil spring spacers are usually less than $100. 4Wheel Parts and Off Road Unlimited carry them.
