2005 F-150 lariat with new rims

I just brought this truck like 3 weeks ago, i have driven a silverado, dodge, and the new nissan...this truck blows them away by far!!

well when i went in to buy the truck from my wife at the ford dealership, they are now selling them either with a lift kit or along with 22" rims and tires. the only thing i added myself was dual exhaust, made by IMCO performace exhaust..it sounds perfect, not too loud like flow master, but not too soft either, and i noticed a great deal in gas, and performance...dually's are nice

im not so much a fan of chrome, but man these rims made the truck, i took thwe pictures at night, which does this truck zero justice, but i have to admit, the rims make the truck, blends right in...but anyhow here are a couple of pictures of my new truck.

Great looking truck. I also have an 05 Lariat scab though. I love how quiet it is and how smooth it rides. I just feel it is a little sluggish with the pedal to the floor.

How much difference did you notice in ride quality? Also, how much did the wheels affect the quickness of the truck?

Thanks,

Chris.

So those are 22's from the dealership? They look a little like the MB motoring vapor wheels.

Question on your wheels

I also have a 2005 F-150. I put some after market 20" rims (good ones) and tires. A shimmy/vibration then showed up between 60 to 70 mph. four sets of tires later, 3 different brands, I still have it.

Have you experienced any balancing problems or do your tires ride fairly smooth?

I read somewhere on a previous thread that there is a tension adjustment on the rack and pinion housing, but I think the 05's are different based on what mine looks like.

Nice looking truck! I had a similar problem with my rotors showing and simply painted them with black Rustoleum. Problem solved! Wait until you deal with the brake dust issue up front ... I'm probably going with ceramic pads before going back and painting brake hardware such as calipers.

Exhaust

Would you recomend IMCO performace exhaust for a '04 F150 4.6L? I have been thinking flowmaster but, I didn't want such a constantly loud sound. I want a subtle grumble at low RPM and a scream at high RPM.

well i noticed a difference in performance with my dual exhaust, but as for the rims...as far as ride quality...stock 18" rims and tires are by far better...BUT after getting my truck programmed for the 22" rims and tires, its allot better.

im already dealing with it..LOL and yes i cant stand the look of rust...blah

you know..sorry for the late response..i just have been busy at work, but im not too sure how the IMCO wil sound on that sized engine, however, a friend of mine installed an IMCO on his dodge dakota, and he says he likes it...its all personal preference i think personally...i just like the way it sounds on the 5.4 triton...although i was fortunate enough to hear it on a friends truck before hand.

Have you experienced any balancing problems or do your tires ride fairly smooth?
it rides smooth for me! but then again, i only but got 3 thousand miles on my truck..lol but its time to rotate my tires for sure...

no, i got them from a rim shop here locally, they got a deal goin on with the ford dealership...it was on the show room floor, looked very convincing..lol before the rust came in...err that damn rust is killing me..lol oh and the brake dust...damn them all to hell..LOL
