Question 17X8 Black Helo Maxx 6

Is there such a thing as a 17X8 Helo Maxx 6? I found one web site that supposedly has them. It seems that if it was available I could find them other places as well.

Was a typo....

Does anyone know if there is a 17X8 black wheel that is similar looking?

Thanks,

Shane

I may be wrong but I think they only make the 17's in a 9 inch width.

Yeah it was a Typo on the web site... I really like those wheels. Do you know of any black wheels like the Maxx 6 that I can get in a 17X8? What do you think I could get out of my stock 10 spoke 17x7.5 wheels. Everywhere that I've looked they sell for better than $200 each new. I would take a lot less than that.....

As always....... Thanks again.

Do you work for a wheel & tire place? Your knowledge is unbelievable.....

No, I don't work for a tire dealer. I just spend way too much time on the net and reading truck magazines!
As for what your tires/wheels are worth, OEM stuff usually doesn't bring much. When I bought my Screw, my tire dealer offered me $100 for my brand new tires as trade in on my BFG AT KO's.

I stopped by a local tire and wheel place today who can order Helos. We looked at the book and it showed a 17x8 Maxx 6 in black. So I tell him that I can't find that wheel anywhere and he should call Wheel Creations. So he calls the chicago rep and the guy says shure we make a 17X8 Maxx 6. They would have to be shipped from either Florida or some place out west.

He also says that the 17X8 only comes in a +10 and -15 offset. So my question to you Wandell is which do I choose. My front hits on the frame at full wheel lock so another 15mm (1/2") will make that worse. Or I can go with the +10 so that it sticks out anothe 1/2" on the 8 inch rim. So which should I try? He said they would mount 1 and check it and if they don't fit they would take them back without charging me. I'm leaning towards the +10 offset....

Thanks,

Shane

To be honest with you, I can't remember seeing someone with 315/70-17's on a set of 8 inch wide aftermarket wheels on a stock 4x4. As you say, you will usually have some rubbing on the frame at full steering lock with the stock wheels. However, if you push them out with a wider wheel with less backspacing, you will get rubbing on the front bumper's lower valance and the rear of the front fenderwells. I guess the only way to find out is to mount one up.

I have a quick question for you... I went and did a search for offset and backspaing and I am getting two different sets of information. If a wheel has +10mm of offset that means that it moves OUT approx. 1/2" right and -15mm offset means that it moves IN towards the frame approx. 1/2". When I look at the diagram on this thread...

https://www.f150online.com/forums/li...ech-wheel.html

it looks to be opposite of what I thought. Look at the second diagram down of the wheel and offset and back spacing. I want to order the Maxxs but I want to be sure which ones, either the +10 of -15 offset. Man I'm confused...

Thanks,

Shane

Sounds like you need the ones with 10mm offset which will give you more backspacing (almost 5 inches). Sounds like they will make the rubbing on the frame worse, but the others will probably rub the bumper's valance and wheelwell.

So which do you like better?

Moto

Helo

Wheelpros who make both the wheels book says they make the Maxx in a 17x8 but when called they only make it in chrome. So I'm going to have either the MM 951 or Black Maxx 6 shipped in a 17x9 and test fit it on the nose and see how much trimming I'm really going to have to do. I'm probably going to be sorely dissapointed but I just have to give it a try don't I...

Well, I got the Maxx 6 yesterday and of course the guy sent the -12 instead of the +10 offset. So being impatient like I am I took it to my wheel guy and gave it a try anyway. Low and behold the 17x9 just tickled the front valence and the front of the running board at the back of the front wheel well. So today I spent about 2 hours removing the lower part of the front valence(unscrewed it) Moved my running boards back about 1" and then spent a little quality time with my dremel and a cutting disc. When the other three wheels get here on tuesday and I get them mounted I will post the pics. And they said it couldn't be done. Wheelpros even said that that wheel in 17x9 with the 315/70/17 wouldn't fit with any less than a 3" of lift. I love a challenge.....
