Rear ABS

I recently bought a 1989 F15 XLT and have had some horrible experience with the rear brakes and the ABS/parking break lights coming on. Multiple times a day when driving, both of these lights come on and my right rear brake adjusts all the way out and binds up. If I cycle the ignition as soon as it happens, the lights go off and will stay off for several uses of the brakes and then the process starts over.

Any suggestions? Why would the right rear brake shoes adjust all the way out and bind?

I don't drive this truck much, but when I do it is a huge pain in the ***.

Thanks,

Lantz

Sounds like the adjuster on the right rear was installed backwards. This would cause the brake to adjust when going forward instead of when backing up.

Pull it apart and flip the adjuster around, this will solve your problem. This would also send false signals to the PCM tripping the lights on the dash.
