285's on 16x10 wheel
 

I just purchased a set of 16x10 eagle alloys and after alot of research and questions I think i am going to go with a 285/75-16 tire. It is down to the firestone destination MT, the Goodyear MTR, or Trxus Radial MT. I have found all of them close to about $145 so price difference isnt too much of a factor. I do some trail riding on the weekends but nothing too serious. I mostly want an aggresive tire that will work decent offroad but wear well on the street. Any opinions would be appreciated. Also, every website i go to says that 285's only fit on 16x8. I have kind of asked this before, but are you guys sure 285/75-16 will fit on 16x10? And does it depend on which brand of 285 if it will fit or not. Thanks alot for your help.

The MTR's are probably the best tire out of the ones you are looking at.
Most manufactures recommend a maximum rim width of 9 inches for a 285/75-16. I'm running 285 BFG's on 16x10's and havn't had any problems in 30,000 miles. The only reason I went with 285's was because BFG didn't make a 305/70-16 when I bought my truck. I'd go with the 305's if I were you.

That is the reply I expected. I had a set of MTRs and i loved them but they are so costly in the 305/70-16. What do you think of baja claw radials? I have always loved the looks of them I am just not sure about tread wear. Again does anyone have pics with 305s and no lift? I really like so see someone else with this setup beore I order the 305s.
