305's on rear w/285 on front? 4x4
 

Ok, I just took of the FX4 equipped 'Rancho' shocks, replaced them all around with Edlebrok SAS gas. very nice much stiffer, but Im gonna need rubber soon. I was thinking about going 305's in the rear with a set of 285's in the front, as suggested by a friend...problem being Does anyone know the circumfrunce of these tires, because if they are different Id have to imagine that when In 4wd It would spin at different speeds...not good. Just looking to get another opinion

They are both essentially 33 inch tires, so I guess it would work. The 285/75-16 is basically a 33x11.50 and the 305/70-16 is basically a 33x12.50. But, why on earth would you want to do this? You will not be able to rotate them without it looking really weird. :confused:

If you ever expect to shift into 4x4 where you might run on a firm surface, buy your 4 new tires of whatever size and rotate them regularly. If you are putting both sizes on the same rim, you can expect a some slight difference in inflated/working circumference.

I wouldn't recommend putting differenct sizes on different axles, but you know what you want to do with your rig.

If a good friend of mine was considering doing it, I would harrass him unmercifully (perhaps throw in some physical abuse, if necessary) until he gave up the idea.

I agree!!! Why in the world would you want to put two different size tires on? What would you accomplish? Better fuel mileage because of less road resistence?!?!?! (LOL)

Hahaha, no. I want to put 285's on all 4 corners, my friend ( who owns a 2003 Harley , unfortunetley couldnt tell you what size engine it has ) Thought it would look cool, like wider rear end type thing, I explained my points, and I wasnt actually considering I just thought to myself How would it affect the 4wd if the tires were slightly off circumfrance wise and spun now at different speeds. Its a shame hes got an awesome truck and Knows nothing about it, except he yells at me that I get mine dirty and a lil banged up in the bed....where I have to turn to him ( while I have a raptor in the bed, truck covered In mud and pulling a trailer with 3 other quads on it ) and say....Dude its a truck....
So people like show, some people Like work...I like my workable F150 with a full police package just Fine!.
