Do Cooper Discoverer AT's pick up a lot of road gravel?

Now looking at these. My mechanic said he will order them and cut me a deal. Estimate about $90 apiece. Checked them out online and searched previous message boards and so far so good. The only thing I didn't find is if they pick and throw a lot of gravel??? My dad has got a set of Bridgestone Dueler (non Revos) and those things are terrible at picking up gravel. Sounds like rain on a tin roof inside the wheel wells. The Coops look very similar to my Les Schwab All Terrain SXT's made by Avon.

The Cooper's are good tires. I've got about 62,000 on my Discoverer HT's. Consider the HT if you're on the highway a lot like I am.

I've gottem

I have these on my 02 -- actually transfered them over from my 99(which ford bought back). I have the LT 245 75 16 load range E. They have a combined total of 30K on them and they are only half worn. I really like the traction and the load carrying ability. I have been in 6 inchs of wet snow on a grassy area and was not in 4WD-- still had traction -even with no load in the bed of the truck. I do have the Limited slip. I give them 2 thumbs up!!

I was told the Avon was made by Cooper, so thats probably why they look the same.

I'm sold on the Discoverer AT's

Went to check them out. $510 out the door. The "Avon" Les Schwab All Terrain SXT's are made by Cooper according the shop. The Coopers are a little more aggressive with a 50k warranty instead of 40K on the Schwabs and cheaper. Nice tread design for what I do with plenty of factory siping. They don't recommend extra siping. The Cooper HT's tread pattern is a little too close together for me and Perfection Tire agrees. He said the HT's aren't that great in snow. Of course they were out of stock in the 6 ply so will be ordering this week. Will post my results soon...Thanks for everyone's feedback.

Hey Highmilage:

Those Disc HTs look like a nice all-season.

Have you tried them in heavy snow or mud?

Thanks.

The tire sales guy said the HT wasn't nearly as good in the snow, for whatever that is worth. I am very impressed so far with the AT but only have had them on highway. Impressive tread design and very quiet.

Opinion of Discoverer AT's

Love'em. Had them in snow, slush, water, gravel roads, highway. Couldn't be happier.
