GoodYear MTR's ??
Can any one recommend the GoodYear MTR in this size LT305/70R17 for my 03 Screw / 3:73 ?
Is this tire as good as a BFG AT? Is the road noise excessive? Is the ride and handeling better or worse than stock? I would appreciate any help on this matter because I have to buy tires by this Thurs and I like the look of the MTR but only have experiance with BFG AT's in the past. I have a friend pushing me towards the MTR's, just like he has on his truck but he works for GoodYear,,,, what else would he say. Thanks,,,,, Rob |
Rob,
Having owned both, I have to tell you that you are comparing apples to oranges. The bfg's are a great tire in their element, as is the mt/r. If you do much in the way of mud, or rock, look closely at the mt/r. If your off-road excursions are just a few times a year in nothing too serious, the bfg will be fine. The mt/r is a much more aggresive tire and has the go to prove it. I have over 40,000 on my set now and they still pull pretty well. Bfg's will last just as long, maybe longer, but you won't get through the thick stuff (mud) nearly as easily. Truthfully, the mt/r is not much, if any, louder on the road than the bfg's. Mine are louder now because they are getting pretty worn. Good luck, it all depends on your style of driving and where you plan to go. Later, Rich |
