Uniroyal AWT's??
I am looking to get new tires on my '99 reg cab shortbed. I have BFG Long Trail T/A's on them and I really don't like them. I do mostly on road driving, to work and back, and some mountain road driving to state parks and campsites. Occasionally I do some off road driving, usually to get firewood.
I have some interest in the Uniroyal AWT. Anyone have any info on them? Found a great deal on BFG all terrain T/A's if I don;t hear anything good on the Uni's... |
Just curious: I had Long Trails on a truck and they were fantastic- never got stuck in snow and they held the road in the rain. On dry pavement, they were quiet and gave a smooth ride.
What didn't you like about them, that you hope the new tires will do better? |
I have the BFG's also, I will replace them when needed with more BFG's. It's the best tire I have ever had on a truck, at least for on road driving which is all I do...

I had a set of BF All terrain TA's on my ranger. The Long Trails aren't bad, they are great for the highway. They have not been as great as I expected in rain, snow and mud. Haven't gripped as well as I thought at times. Maybe the old BF's I had just spoiled me!

I got excellent traction in snow and ice with my BFG's much better then the Goodyear tires I had on another truck.

(sorry to beat a dead horse but...)
I just took delivery of a brand new truck today. I asked the dealer to replace the crappy tires when I took delivery but they wouldn't do anything "on the house." So, believe it or not, the first place I went with my brand new truck was my local tire shop. I said: take those crappy little racing slicks off and give me four new BFG Long Trails. It sucks to trash four new tires just like that but I figured, my investment and my life are worth more than the $400 it cost me to have excellent tires I can trust on my brand new vehicle. (BTW- the truck looks 100% better with the Long Trails, a little bigger than stock, of course) :rocker: |
Hmm...my tread wear is great, these Long Trails I have look new. They just don't seem to grip as well as what I am used to off the pavement and in the snow. Maybe the tire god is just frowning on me....
