Royal Purple

Have any of you guys ever heard of or used Royal Purple synthetic oil or gear lube. If so what do you think about it? And is it worth the cost?

Yes, I have heard alot about it and read alot about it on here and else where. This Monday 10/14 I will be getting my Max. ATF for my manual trans. and their 75W-140 gear oil. I bought it through northernautos.com

From all I have read and heard about it, it is well worth the price.
If you decide to go with Royal Purple they say their gear oil has the friction modifier in it, but it has been recommended to me from here and the Ford dealer to add the friction modifier from Ford anyway. I already have the 4oz I need just waiting on the oil to get here.

Everything I have heard about Royal Purple has been good. I use Mobil one now and change at 5,000 miles. I am planning on switching to Royal Purple at next oil change, it is about $1 a quart more than Mobil 1 here in Fort Worth. I think as long as you use a good synthetic with a good oil filter (Motorcraft,Mobil One,Purolator to name a few) and change at a reasonable interval you should have no problem. I am switching to Royal Purple for the peace of mind.;)

XLT,

Isn't the 'fricton modifier' only for limited slip rear ends?

STX/98:

Yes, your correct. You only need the friction modifier for the limited slip rearends. I believe its to reduce noise, but if you or someone else knows just why you need it please post. I just know you are suppose to add it to limited slip as you pointed out.

I actually asked Mike from the Computer Chips forum, he is the Superchip distributer. Anyway I asked Mike about the Royal Purple and what he thought as far as if I should add the friction modifier regardless of what Royal Purple state (that's its already in it). Mike's reply is they add it regardless.
