Will Ford replace this for free at the 60,000 mile check up?

According to the owners manual they will. My question is WHY ??

Just to be neighborly I guess.

I replaced the one in my Explorer at 100k whether it needed it or not...wasn't sure about the free one at 60k.

I don't think they cost that much. Like 5 bucks or so.... I got a $700 quote to do the 60k service at a dealer..... The least they could do was replace the PCV!

a good friend of mine is taking his truck into the dealership for the 60k service. what is included that makes it so expensive?

They were going to change all the fluids in the truck. Radiator, tranny, case, diffs, fuel filter, I want to say the plugs too, but can't remember. All I remember saying was "Thanks for the quote... I'll think about it". All I could think to myself was "what a f@#$%&* ripoff!!!". I do know it will cost around $100 to have the tranny "sucked dry" and then filled back up at a tranny shop (including service and fluid). That would be the only thing I would need help with. All the rest is a piece of cake.
