Oil seeping every where

Has anyone else noticed oil seepage from their oil pan or valve covers? I changed oil yesterday and noticed that I have some wetness around these areas. I checked the fasteners and they are tight.

My 99 with the 5.4 had a head gasket leak on passenger side. Truck had 33,500 miles. Dealer replaced both heads and gaskets. Seems to have fixed problem. They told me job would take 2-3 days. Got truck back after 3 weeks on May 16th. This has been a very common problem with the 99 5.4. Good luck with yours.

First off, Bob, how often do you degrease/wash your engine?? I do mine every other time I wash my truck. No engine will ever be completely oil tight. Especially since your running a 99, it will show a little wetness around the gasket joints. All engines will. Shouldn't get to the point of dripping though, not at least untill 100k miles, but all engines will show wet signs around gasket joint. Let's set realistic expectations here.

I suppose I do have pretty high expectations from a 30k truck. I’m pretty picky about my vehicle as most of us are. Though I don't plan to get it fixed unless it gets to the point of dripping. This engine only has 30,000 miles on it since I had the original replace due to piston slap with a new 2000 engine. I’ll degrease the engine and watch it for now. Thanks for the replies.

Your expectations aren't high. In this day and age anyone should be able to build a motor that doesn't leak like the 5.4's.

Texaco wanted to set up an oil rig on my engine block!!

I guess I know what to look forward to. Mine has been at the dealers for the last 3 weeks getting the FQR put in. I guess in another 30k it'll be back in.
