Post GM Duramax Woe's

Today I spoke with a client that sells fleet vehicles. I asked him about the new GM Duramax. He said that some of his customers had tried them and that many of them had had engine crankshaft problems with approx. 37,000 miles on the engine.
This client also noted that GM was purposely holding back production because they were not sure this engine would last very long.
Anyone else heard about crankshaft problems with Duramax?
This fleet guy noted that with a superchip & some other mod.--nothing can touch the King--Powerstroke!

Not about the diesel, but I think you will find this very interesting. Click on the "known defects" in the center column. It tells about mismachined cranks and wrong size rod bearings. www.agmlemon.freeservers.com

Why am I not surprised? Chevy has not had a good track record when it comes to diesels. I don't care who designed it, for some reason, Chevy just can't build the diesels right.

Around here, few people are jumping on the Duramax band wagon. They're sitting back and waiting to see how it holds up. The people who jumped on the 6.5L diesel band wagon were all sorry that they did.

Cool

You wouldn't see Ford rush a new design to market and get problems like that. No sir, no piston slap, no poorly machined heads causing oil leaks - not from Ford.

The old rule still holds true - never buy a vehicle/engine/transmission in its first year.
