Low Idle with Air Cond. running

Anyone have suggestions? I have a 1997 4.2 V6. I just had the timing cover gasket replaced (by my mechanic, Ford wouldn't pay for it? They said that my truck doesn't have that problem, so it's not covered by the recall. Go figure???) and now I notice a low idle usually 500-700rpm only when the air cond. is running.

Excuse my ignorance. But, how can I tell if it is plugged in? I'm not sure what the iac is. Thanks for your help.

basically it is a round cylinder looking item on the top of the intake manifold near the throttle body, but if it has been unplugged for any length of time the check engine light should come on, basically check along the intake manifold to see if anything has been left unplugged, the cam timing could also be off as well, is there any hesitation when you first step on it, that wasnt there before? As the camshaft position sensor has to be removed when the front cover gaskets are done and if not put back in the proper timing can cause problems

I haven't noticed any hesitation, but I will check it out. Thanks for the advice.
