Oil Pan Replacement

I have a '92 F 150 2WD 4.9L six that has 125000 miles on it. The oil pan is in need of replacement due to rust. Can this be done with without raising the engine?

no not really disconnect the motor mounts and jack up the engine for clearence its not a hard job as some other oil pans like the sho taurus

When I had my 95 4.9 the oil pan started rusting in 1 spot. I just sanded it and got a spray can of gray primer and sprayed that spot. You might be able to the same thing but just sand the whole pan and spray the whole pan.

Thanks guys, I called NAPA today to see if they could get a pan and his reply was sorry we don't carry them. A friend of mine runs an autobody business and is going to call one in for me. I was suprised that I couldn't find a pan on the net anywhere, this being a work motor so to speak instead of a motor that is hot rod material. As for the touch up, I would be better off using 1/8th" metal than paint because the ole girl is about to puke out a 2" hole. I'll post back on pan replacement when the jobs done.

Pans on, we started about 10:00 am Saturday morning and headed off for some cold ones at about 2:00 pm. It did consit of considerable lifting of the engine to remove pan. We also replaced oil pump while it was there for the taking. Oil pressure is now rock solid. Thanks again.
