I just want to add my condolences to all you people who put out your hard earned dollars for a never ending recall status on your ford trucks w/ 5.4 tritons. I myself won a ford buy back for my 1999 f-150 w/the notorious problem inflicted truck. I since purchased a CHEVY Silverado w/5.3. I have never been more satisfied with a vehicle then I am with this General Motors truck.
21.5 mpg compared to 14.0 with ford
Smooth as silk and not one complaint w/5.3
Plain driving or pulling 21 ft boat
:)

I was hit with this one

My Right side was leaking bad. Brought it in for warranty repair at 34,000miles. REplace the right head.

at 37,000 the same head droped a valve sping into the Cyl. and popped the entire motor.

Thank goodness for the ESP warranty. They (Park Ave Ford) Broke my Ba11$ on that one...

I am glad that finally something may get done about the oil problem now lets hope the get someone one the ROUGH IDLE ISSUE. Hope they don't take forever fixen the oil leaks.

I've had one 4.6L and three 5.4L powered Fords and NONE of them have had engine problems. In fact, my '01 SuperCrew has never been back to the dealer for anything but routine maintenance. No reparis. No recalls. My '99 was never recalled either.

I'm glad people like grouch, I mean couch, ummm make that coach have bought chevies.

You know, I'm wondering if people like grouch even had a Ford.

These things are always interesting to me... It is bad that the problem exists but it is good that Ford is recognizing the problem and is spending the money to fix it (rather than hide behind it). Luckily I have not had any major problems with either of the two Fords I've owned (which I cannot say about the Chevy or Dodge that I owned). Additionally, the latest Consumer Reports, while dinging the Ford for it's negative offset crash numbers, does give it positive ratings in the Reliability category (the only other positive one was the Tundra). Chevy scored very low in the reliability category...

No prob with mine..

Some of us just got lucky, and some got a nightmare, my truck is running fine so far with 100+k, it is a 5.4, no leaks...I just got lucky, and to coach, for future reference I would not tell anyone you drive a Chebbie, well at least on these boards, congrats on your 21.5mpg, at least I know we here at F150 Online drive all around nicer trucks..I believe DENNIS and Cyclone would agree.

5.4

Coach. Go to a chevy forum and you hear the same crap. They have problems to as they ALL do. So dont go acting like chevy is king **** couse there not and mayby thats why ford is the best selling truck period and has since the last 25 years.

Give that chevy a few more miles when it's out of warranty and you'll start having buttons and knobs falling off into your hands. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

I looked at the Chevy's ... didn't like what I saw. It's not just having a truck for me, it's having a truck That Looks Nice. I mean, the Chevy trucks are boxes on wheels. And after I started comparing the two companies and the trucks based solely on merit, I favored the Ford trucks more. Now I'm a very critical person, about 6 months ago I would have never dreamed of buying a truck as my next vehicle. It was the farthest thing from my mind ... I was convinced and am still convinced that Ford trucks are the way to go. Buy and extended warranty on it and save yourself hassle for 100,000 miles for and extra $1400, and you have yourself a very nice vehicle.
I know Fords fall apart. I read about all of these things people ask about here and it freaks me out. I'm used to the Asian "drive it and forget about anything except the steering wheel" idea. I drove an old 1992 Toyota Camry that my dad bought new 10 years ago. I am much happier in the truck. So back your Chevy butt up and go running back to your own message boards. Don't pollute our community here.

If you want to contribute to this board, then by all means do so in a constructive way, but if you come on here and just bash away at Fords, you'd better have worn your flame-resistant underwear today, cause you ain't leaving without being flamed.

DETROIT, April 1 (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co. (F) has been hit with another high-profile quality control problem, this time involving an engine defect in some truck models, including its best-selling F-Series pickup.
...

Just a thought..

sporkdevil Apr 1, 2002 10:14 PM
