changing engine from v6 to v8

Actually Ford has been using the AODE (4R70W) behind the 5.4L also...
Optionally I think a Ford Racing 9" (10 Bolt) or Sterling 9.75 or 10.25 (Both 12 bolt) could be used for the rear...
More on point... You will need all of the wiring harnesses and computer for the type of engine you will be getting. You will probably need a custom programmed computer/chip to take into account variables for your truck (tire size, transmission type/regulation, A/F delivery... etc). Of course the transmission, depending on which engine you go with and the tranny you currently have. You may want to step up the rear end from the 31 spline 8.8 if you decide to make the engine something more than a stock 4.6L; and even then the insurance and peace of mind is worth it... It would certainly be less of a headache just to find a used V8 truck and start from there...
