coolant how-to

OK, I can't wait any longer. I've been wait for someone to post the question but, maybe it's a no brainer. Without a raditor cap how do you fill your system after draining. This is the first cooling system I've ever had that did'nt have a radiator cap. OOP! did I just give it away that this is my first new Ford.
Also, after reading the post about the cracked heads possibly due to air pockets, this has me concerned and would like to avoid this scenario.
How often do you guys change your coolant.
Thanks

Some say 2 years, others say 3. You should check the owners manual at the very least.
I do know that FORD specifically states NOT to use the extended use formulas.
I usually leave mine in until it no longer reads alkaline which means it is heading for acidic, assuming the freeze protection is adiquate. Any hobby shop will have litmus paper to check the PH.
I have no clue on the "air pockets", good point.
