I have several electrical problems after it rains or when it is very damp out
here are some of my problems..speedo won't work, door adjar light, dome light won't go out, drivers side window don't work, in the morning the battery will be dead. Iam having these problems right now as I am writing this .I have had it at a dealer Hiller ford and the first time I took it there they said there was nothing wrong costed me $59.00 okay next time I took it there was about a week later it costed me $358.41 they told me it was the gem module. guess what I still have the same problem. Iam tired of disconnecting the battery at night.
before I forget I too have the door crack!!

How many miles on your truck? What other options? Ever had any other electrical problems. Except for the speedo, it sounded as though some component of the wiring harness that serves the driver's door might be a problem.

Have you tried checking all the wires that come from the fuse's to the battery? It sounds like one of the wires is either broke or is grounding out and causing a dead short. Try pulling each wire one at a time to figure out what they control. When you find one that works the items that are going dead, trace it and see if anything is wrong with it. Do you have a wire tester?

I have a similar problem. The dome light and the "dinger" will not go off when the door is closed. It takes sometimes 30 seconds to go out. Then other times it goes right out. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!!

Its a bad door switch.

Seems to be your not alone.

It's been raining steadily here for the last two days. Yesterday I went out to the truck got what I needed and all seemed fine. Today I needed tire gauges out of it and found that the none of the electrical worked, Everything was stone cold dead. Out of desperation of not wanting to work in the rain tried a boost and surprisingly it started and ran. Drove around to the garage, turned it off, threw the charger on and it charged at 8 amps for the first while. Now 6 hours later it's still charging at 4. Here's the weird part. The Ac/Heater fan continues to operate even after the key is off and out of the ignition and the doors have been opened. Now I know that the radio & windows will still operate for what is it, 10 minutes after shut down, but I've never seen the heater carry on. Anyhow I'm guessing that the wet weather shorted something out giving the heater it's power back that was originally cut off when the ignition was turned off and it then ran down the battery. The power locks and the alarm work but not off the key fob.

I'm wondering what else is draining current that's not supposed to with the key off.

Scott-Cindy, any answers to your problems back in January?
