coolant problem

I recently checked the coolant resivour in my truck and noticed that the coolant was grey in color. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be?

Taking my best guess at it would possibly be something like oil in it. Check your oil and see if it is the same color. If it is possible head gasket. Just guessing though from what I know.

If you were getting oil from a head gasket leak the oil would be floating on top. If it's all grey it's probably just dirty. Sediment likes to settle in the bottom of the resevoir. How does the coolant in the radiator look? Maybe it's time for a flush?

Grey is not good. It really sounds like oil. Look closely at some of the coolent, does it seem oily? Check your oil, see if it shows signs of coolent in it. If so, you probably are looking at a blown head gasket, far too common in the 5.4.
