How many miles? Maintenance history? Is it a 2wd or 4x4?
You don't have to have a CEL for there to be maintenance issues. There are a lot of things you can do to help keep it healthy. The right oil and filter, a good flowing air filter, fresh plugs, 02 sensors, cleaning the throttle body and elbow, cleaning MAF sensor, new fuel filter etc.. the list goes on. All depends on mileage and maintenance. Fluids are the first and most important. Transmission, rear differential.. But if you have some miles on it, might be time for a good go through, freshen things up a bit.

Also be aware that available traction, vehicle weight, gearing, tire compound, road surface, etc, etc, all count here. As does heat soak ( pulls timing).
Any mods?
BTW - this has been discussed several times over the years.....
