2003 f150 4.6 temp sensor location

2003 f150 4.6 2wd crew cab.
I have looked everywhere I'd think it should be and cant seem to find it. the book says it's to the front left of the intake but it is not,
If anyone has replaced one on a 2003 4.6 and could be of some help I'd really appreciate it.
Thank you

2003 had a cylinder head temp sensor, not a coolant temp sensor. It's not on the intake.

Since it's called a "cylinder head " temp sensor, guess where it is going to be installed.

Ge thanks

I assumed it was in the head like any other temp sensor. But the book said otherwise and I have looked on both heads with bo luck.

Don't know what book you were looking at, but it's either wrong or was misinterpreted.

It's in the valley, under the intake manifold, screwed into a port above the #5 cylinder. You have to remove the intake to get to it, according to the factory manual. I do not know if there are shortcuts.

Why are you looking for it?

Thank you.

The book is a Haynes Manuel it covers so much it doesn't have the info I need. Thank you for you're input. I'll pull the alternator and see if I can find it.
I'm by no means a mechanic i just enjoy tinkering, most of my knowledge is in carburetor engines.
This is my first obd2 vehicle,
and the lack of plug wires is amazing🤣

It is above #5 under the intake. Can get to it if you remove the alternator.

Is this also location for the 2004 F150 Ford XL Heritage V6 4.2 L ?

Probably not. V6 is different from V8.
