4.6l 97 f150 misses and backfire
 

Replaced fuel pump and filter ran fine patked it next day started it to see if battery was dead missing all over the place backfired in intake manifold touched a plug wire shocked the crap out me so replaced all the plug wores made it worse

Haven't changed the plugs cause it was running rwal good not to mention it's been parked for 3 years

You have spark plug, wires, and/or coil issues. Make sure you have the firing order correct and you use dielectric grease in the wire boots at both ends.

When it first started missing o noticed the wires have ruined grooves into each other I tried to move it and it shocked the crap out me I knew they were bad so I changed them I'm guessing I have fouled plugs maybe and dirty sensor and a vacuum leak and a little old gas

Boots weren't wet or oily either came out real good for original plug wire 219 k miles fuel pump only part ever changed I know because my grandpa bought it in 97

3 yr old fuel......

Drained fuel put leaded 101 ran it. Smoothed it out
