A P2106 is not related to the EGR system. Do you have other DTCs? If so, diagnose them first.

Did you try looking at your engine to see what is installed?

Well The code put the engine into failsafe mode and that was the code that popped up. I searched possible causes and it said dirty egr valve among other possibilities. I also cleaned the mass air sensor.

I didnt know if that model had an EGR. some do some dont it seems

Thank You

That's why YOU have to look under the hood and see what YOU have. 2004 was a transition model year so there is the potential for differences.

As noted, that DTC has nothing to do with the EGR system. It's simply an advisory code that records that the system was put into "limp mode" but, by itself, is not indicative of the underlying cause.

Again, do you have any other fault codes?

On the 2004+ F-150 with electronic throttle, the cause of a P2106 and failsafe is often the electronic throttle body itself. However, you do have to go through the troubleshooting to rule out other causes.
