Does anybody know the average lifetime for a 2v 4.6? My grandpa is giving me his truck in a couple of years, and I want to know how long I will have with it. The truck's odometer says 231,000 but it's more close to 250. The only real problems we've had with it was him putting in the wrong coolant one time, and recently with him using aftermarket spark plugs and wires. Those issues have been resolved, so I'm not sure how long this truck will last for me.

 

You just don't know. I've seen them die before 200k, I've also heard of them lasting 500k.

 

It will depend on how he drove it and how you'll drive it. Along with it's current condition... more-so the suspension and frame.
