So, some bad news. The SAME WIRE popped off AGAIN. I’m getting pretty tired. Will check the plug wire for any blowby when I get the chance.

Pull the wire, pull the plug. Use a light and a mirror to look down into the plug hole. The seat may have some carbon or other debris on it that needs to be cleaned. If the plugs were loose, this is quite possible.

It's also possible that #7 blew out at one time and may have an insert that's leaking.

How would I go about cleaning the seat? Can I do it with a special cleaner? To my knowledge, there has never been a problem with the spark plugs blowing out on this truck. My grandfather has had it since new. I checked for blowby using the wire trick, and there was no pulsing.

I also want to mention the fact that when I was tightening the plug, I hand tightened it to where it was snug, then used a ratchet, and while I did that, the plug got tight, then became loose again, then tightened up to where I could torque it down. Might be important.

Does anybody know of a way to clean the carbon off of the spark plug seat? I’m really struggling, it isn’t misfiring enough to cause a light, but it will shake

Have you pulled the plug and looked in there yet? Compare it to another cylinder to see what you may be up against.

Ill pull number 7 and 1 when I get back from dinner to compare.
Edit: just pulled them both, they are both burning clean except for 1 difference... 7 has a lot of carbon in the well and on the electrode, 1 looks brand new. Time to clean!

Good news! I thoroughly cleaned the number 7 wire, well, and plug, and the truck FINALLY runs smooth again. I have a good feeling about it this time. What was causing the issue was a little metal washer that fell and bent to the curve of the side of the well, and wedged itself to where it wouldn’t let the plug down all the way. My grandpa will drive it to work tomorrow to find out if it works again! Now on to the rest of this truck’s problems.

Oh yes, very lucky thank god. We didn’t drive it much though, my grandpa hasn’t had to work lately. I pray that this is our last spark plug related problem. My guess is that the metal piece came off of the original plugs, my grandpa doesn’t keep track and they were the oem plugs at 210,000

So, the truck shakes at startup, but after less than a minute it stops and smooths out. My grandfather says it’s just he computer getting used to running normal again.

That's possible, but I think I'd check the other plug wells.

well, I still have to wait another week because the truck is sitting at the yard of my grandpas work and he won’t be back til then. My main plug I will be checking is 6, because that was the first plug to give me problems.

So I checked 6 and cleaned it out. The shake cleared up a bit, but it still has a slight shake on startup. When I get time, I’ll find out what plug is causing it.
