Considering passenger van.

A 2010 Ford 5.4 (gear ratio -?) vs. 2018 GMC 6.0 with 3.42 rear end. Any thoughts?

I've spent a lot of time behind the wheel of E-350's. They ride like a truck and act like a truck. Most of the ones I have driven (though haven't paid much attention) have a 3.55 or 3.73.

Only problem with the newer generation 5.4l is the phasers.

Not sure on the GMC 6.0.

But I just got done driving 300 miles a Chevy Express 3500 yesterday and it drives a little better than the E-350. Although, I noticed on the Chevy, the front end gets a little hairy cornering downhill (twisty roads) with bumps. Almost like a death wobble -- first time it happened, it gave me the white-knuckle experience.

No phasers on a van, they never put the 3 valve engine in them. The 2 valve 5.4 is a very reliable engine, but will have less power than a GM 6.0.

Ahh, yes, you are right... forgot about that.

Never paid much attention to the E series. I just got behind the wheel and drove them.

Those vans remind of basic get-the-job done vehicles.
