New here, tried to find info on '05 4.6 to 5.4 swap

Hi guys,

I am new to F150's but I have owned and rebuilt a lot of engines and cars through the years.

I found the thread for 4.6 to 5.4 swaps, but that mostly covers the 2001 and earlier models. I can't find anything for an '05 that is definitive.

I have a badly abused 4.6 in an '05 F150 4x4 that I just picked up. It is partially disassembled and I'm told it has bent valves from a badly worn timing chain. It only has 106K miles.

I am debating weather I should replace the 4.6 with a 5.4? From what I have read, a lot of guys use the 2V engine, but I assume that's because they are swapping it into an older 2V truck body?

If I use a 5.4 long block, and swap over most of the 4.6 parts and use the 4.6 ECU will that work? I've read about 4.6 to 5.4 manifold adapters, mostly used on Mustang swaps.

I am trying to keep a reasonable budget by using a known good engine, pulled from a wreck.

Should I just forget it and stick with the 4.6?

Thank you for any insight or ideas you can give me!
-Bobby
