99 4x4 f150 4.6 romeo replacing with 97 awd explorer 5.0

Ok so I took on this project that I'm now ***** deep in and hitting a few snaga lol not at all suprised. Ok so we're at the point where we're trying to fifure out if the explorer tranny can stay with the 5.0 and meet up with the transfer case in my f150?? I ask because the bellhousing bolts between the two trannys are just the slightest bit different on bolt location. Although the torque converter seems to be exactly the same. Any help on what to do to continue to pair these. Any help or resources would be appreciated

This is not an easy swap. Yes, the bellhousings are different. If both transmissions are 4R70W, there is a good chance the Explorer tranny will bolt to your transfer case. However. there were transmission electronics differences between 1997 and 1999 AND electronics differences between the 4.6 and 5.0.
