5.4 32 valve swap advice
So im about 99% ready to pull the trigger on a wrecked navigator i found last night for my swap. But i have scoured over the net trying to confirm some things and cant.
I know that all the 5.4's were cop and i know from reading JMC's notes on the 4.6 to 5.4 swap that my plug wires on my 97 4.6 will fit the 5.4 since they use the same head and valve cover. But i cant find anywhere that they confirm my plug wires are able to fit the 32 valve heads ok.
So the questions are as follows. Do they fit and if so would it be better to just swap the motor and run my original stuff or would it be easier to swap the harness and run COP from the navigator? Then i would have to tune for PATS since my truck is a 97 and the navi is a 01.
If any one has a link to a swap write up for just this i would love it. I find tons of posts with theoretical info and tons of people who talk but never finish. Have yet to find one that goes start to finish and i know it has been done.

So it just hit me that while the navigators have never had plug wires the heads have been around much longer then the navigator. I started looking at 4.6 motors with the 32v set ups and found several models in the mid 90s that have plug wires. So im taking a trip down to napa tomorrow to see if they are the same as far as the boot is concerned.
Can anyone confirm this?

A search of the Rock Auto catalog shows:
1993 Lincoln Mark 8 with 4.6 4V uses Motorcraft WR5873 plug wires.
1998 Lincoln Mark 8 with 4.6 4V uses Motorcraft DG543 COP.
2001 Lincoln Navigator with 5.4 4V uses Motorcraft DG543 COP.
Therefore, that should work. I'd order the wires from Rock Auto, they are $55.79 a set and are better than any you will find at NAPA.

So once I changed direction and started looking at the mustang guys in the same boat as me with plug wires I came across a post where a guy swapped the valve covers on the 5.4 32v for the valve covers on a96 to 98 mustang cobra with 4v heads. They came with the same plug wires you mentioned above.

One other question. In one thread on some site, i found mention of some valve in the intake that proportions airflow or something like that. It was not the IAC and i have not seen it mentioned anywhere else. Does anyone know if this exists? If so what is it called and what does it do. How are guys hooking it up if it does exist.
Personally im hoping its just someone who didn't know what they were talking about.....
