Conventional or synthetic oil- Blackstone testing
Here's a link to this months newsletter for those that don't get it. The subject matter is: does synthetic motor oil yield better fuel mileage? I'll let you determine what the results from your own reading.
The only caveat here is that if you are driving an EcoBoost and having oil issues like having to run a catch can or using oil, you need to pay more attention the NOACK rating of the oil or ASTM d-5800 testing. For the EB engines this is critical. NOACK is the oil cooking off due to tremendous heat that the direct injected engines make. In your case, the absolute best out there is Pennzoil Yellow Bottle 10w-30 as it will run about half to one third of any of the 5w-30 synthetics. Unless you have arctic cold startups, the 10w is going to get there just as fast as a 5w. For most drivers of the EB engines, this should be your oil.
