Engine swap
I have a 1985 F150 that has the 300 straight 6 in it. I want to swap it with a v8. A friend gave me a 2002 5.4 L and from what I've read I'd have to completely redo the whole power train to make that work. I was just wondering if this is true.

That swap is more work and expense than it's worth. Yes, you would need a different tranny and a whole bunch of custom electronics and wiring. A 302 or 351W is a much easier swap.

460
I have a 4 speed in the truck right now and was maybe wanting to go with a 460. I don't drive the truck very far so gas mileage isn't an issue. Just want power. I was wondering if the 460 would fit easily in the truck or would it take a lot of modifications

300 to 351W swap
I have a 1985 f150 with a 300 and 4 speed manual transmission I want to swap the motor with a 351w but wanted to know if the 351 would fit my transmission or if I'd need a new transmission or bell housing. Just want to know what I'd be getting into before I go that route. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

That six you want to take out is one of the best engines Ford ever sold.

The 300 uses the Windsor bellhousing pattern, so the trans will fit. You will have to find a manual transmission flywheel for a 351 if it came out of an automatic.
