4.6 Misfire
Hello, I've just got a question. I have a '97 F-150 with the 4.6 v8 at around 175,xxx miles. I developed a misfire (I have 2 coil packs, not the COP), and I had the codes scanned. The three codes that came up were P0303, P0305, and P0352. I know that the first two mean that cylinders #3 and #5 are misfiring. The plugs and wires are new with less than 1,500 miles on them. But the last code says that it is "Ignition Coil 2 Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction". Which coil would this be - Driver's side, or passenger's side?

Thank you for the speedy reply. I feel like that may not be the problem... This morning on my way to work, the truck stalled and would not start back up. I coasted into a parking lot, and I believe it is the fuel pump. When the key is turned to "on", I can always hear the fuel pump, which I didn't today. Could this have been my issue all along? It just seems weird to me that the computer would throw codes for specific cylinders if it was just the fuel pump going bad.

Well - 2 questions:
1. How often do you change the fuel filter? (Should be every 30k)
2. Do you make a habit out of running the tank down to the low fuel light before getting gas? (That's hard on the pump, it depends on being immersed in the fuel to keep it cool)
Check the Schrader valve on the fuel rail for pressure - needs to be at least 28 psi, preferred is 35 to 40. If the pump isn't running, check the inertia switch, fuse, and fuel pump relay.
