Looking for performance Coils-On-Plugs for 2001 5.4
Does anyone know of any 'hotter' aftermarket coils for COP ignition on a 2001 5.4L?
I have done a search on this site and on Google.com and found out that there are dual coil replacements for earlier models, but no replacement coils for the newer COP setup. If you have them....please provide details of purchase, brand/model, etc. Any information would be helpful.....thanks! |
Well....there's been 36 'viewings' of my post with no replies.
I can only assume there is no aftermarket manufacturer of the coils for the coil-on-plug ignition?????? |
I believe the only company coming out with anything is MSD. www.msdignition.com They will have the Stacker Ignition: Eight-Channel Distributorless PN #7020 available soon. They claim it's a splice free connection. But for around $350 bucks; it's alittle pricey.

Thanks for the reply Jupertrak. I browsed MSD's website and found the Stacker information. I appreciate it!

Jupiterak-
I know we talked about that MSD unit previously. They e-mailed me this week finally (9 months later...ha ha). They said it is available and stocked at distributors. They said that it requires wire taps, not direct plug ins and that each primary coil socket/wire has to be over the wire clamp/tapped.
|
Thanks Max.....do you think they mean to tap into each of the 8 coil wires? If so....that's sound a bit funky to me.

Area 52-
Yes, it requires tapping into the primary wire leading to the coil-on-plug setup at each cylinder.
