sensor connections on 1998 4.6

Can someone guide me here ? I'm swapping a expedition engine and found a plug w nothing to plug it to ! Does the sensor in center of block under intake plug to the mass air on the air intake or does it go to the back of the engine ? idk if im missing a sensor or if i dont have a o2 plugged in back or what ?Didn't realize ford placed same exact plugs all thru the harness ! that's almost as handy as having over a dozen bolts on a valve cover ! Genius engineering 4 sure ! thanks in advance !

I believe that this is the knock sensor.

Yes it is ! What does it connect to ? Does it go to back of engine block ? or out the front ?

Goes to the back by the transmission. That's where the connector is, - I think it's blue.

where or what does the mass air connect to ? That head genius engineer at ford could of easily made all those connectors just a little different than the next to simplify things ! I guess they were spent after that valve cover design they were all outta design break thru's ! thanks 4 the help !

They are different. The connector guides are on the male connector body. They're easy to break off if some genuineness attempts to connect them where they don't belong.

Why don't you go to Ford and straiten those people out for the rest of us, ehh...
