1999 5.4 2V not starting. I've checked...
...fuel relay system checks OK, fuel pressure (42#) OK, fuel pump has also been bench tested OK, inertia switch is functioning, GEM engine so PCM is out of the equation - I think.
Engine cranks but will not start. Battery and alternator are both OK. Individual COP's are all working on the bench, don't know or where to test the ignition system. Not even sure if it is fuel, ignition or electrical. Does anyone have a 99-2000 PC/ED diagnostic manual? I have the full Ford printed shop manual however, the fuel system is covered in the PC/ED and I don't have that one. |
To help narrow it down, use a noid light to see if the injectors are firing.

have you tried putting the throttle pedal to the floor to see if it will start that way????
|
Removed second thread, one thread per subject please as it gets too confusing.
Thanks |
glc, I'll have to pick up a noid lite. tara, I have tried the throttle WOT.
Bluejay, yes, I knew that. My bad. Sorry. Still looking for the diagnostic PC/ED manual |

Back up.
What does the THEFT light do during a starting attempt? If it's fast-flashing, the PCM has intentionally disabled the fuel injectors. Have you tried a shot of starting fluid to see if it will fire? That will immediately tell you if its an ignition or fuel delivery issue. |
